OBSTRETIC USG

Specialty Image

Obstetric ultrasound (OB USG) is a specialized imaging technique used to monitor pregnancy, assess fetal development, and detect any potential abnormalities. It is a safe and non-invasive method that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce detailed images of the baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, and uterus.

At Shalaka Imaging Center, we provide comprehensive obstetric ultrasound services to ensure the health and well-being of both the mother and the baby throughout pregnancy.

Types of Obstetric Ultrasound Services

1. Early Pregnancy Ultrasound

  • Performed in the first trimester to confirm pregnancy, detect fetal heartbeat, and estimate gestational age.
  • Helps in identifying multiple pregnancies (twins, triplets) and assessing early pregnancy complications.

2. Nuchal Translucency (NT) Scan

  • Conducted between 11-14 weeks of pregnancy to assess the risk of chromosomal abnormalities such as Down syndrome.
  • Measures the thickness of fluid at the back of the baby's neck.

3. Anomaly Scan (Level 2 Scan)

  • Performed between 18-22 weeks to examine the baby’s organs, brain, spine, heart, limbs, and facial structures.
  • Detects structural abnormalities or congenital conditions in the fetus.

4. Fetal Echocardiography (Fetal Echo)

  • A detailed ultrasound of the baby’s heart to evaluate cardiac function and detect congenital heart defects.
  • Recommended for high-risk pregnancies or if there is a family history of heart disease.

5. Obstetric Color Doppler

  • Assesses blood flow in the umbilical cord, placenta, and fetal blood vessels.
  • Helps detect conditions such as intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and placental insufficiency.

6. Routine Obstetric Ultrasound

  • Regular ultrasound scans performed at different stages of pregnancy to monitor fetal growth, amniotic fluid levels, and overall pregnancy health.

7. Growth Scan

  • Conducted in the third trimester to evaluate fetal growth, weight, and position.
  • Assesses placental function and checks for any growth restrictions.

Why is Obstetric Ultrasound Important?

  • Confirms pregnancy and estimates due date.
  • Monitors fetal development and well-being.
  • Detects congenital abnormalities and high-risk pregnancy conditions.
  • Assesses placental position and amniotic fluid levels.
  • Helps in planning delivery and medical interventions if required.
